The galette des rois can be found in all the bakeries and pâtisseries in France in January and is sold there, with a gold paper crown.
There is a religious origin to this tradition but truly it has become more of a game: a charm or a penny gets hidden in the galette. The lucky winner is the recipient of the charm or penny and gets crowned.
We like it so much that it would be sad to limit it at something served only in January for a few weeks.
